Wire EDM Services
Allis Tool & Machine Offers Precision Wire EDM Solutions
We employ a state-of-the-art 4-axis Mitsubishi wire EDM machine with an integrated automatic wire threader system to reduce setup time and, in turn, production time.
This Wire EDM machine can accommodate parts weighing up to 1,764 lbs (for example) and produce accurate components with tolerances of +/- 0.0002 inch. Our specialization lies in the production of large, heavy, and complex components in volumes of about 1 to 300.
While our service is ideal for prototype production, we can easily manage small volume production runs and hard metal component shaping.
How Wire EDM Works
Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) creates microscopically accurate cuts utilizing an electrically charged wire (usually brass) rather than a bit, endmill or blade. Wire EDM uses electrical conductivity to create white-hot sparks that melt away tiny metal particles. Electrically non-conductive dielectric fluid, or deionized water, is used to control the intensity of the sparks along the wire and flush out molten metal material once the voltage is removed.
The result? Precision cuts you couldn’t imagine achieving with more traditional methods. Wire EDM makes Allis Tool & Machine capable of handling highly precise cuts for prototypes or low volume production parts.
Metal Components We Produce
Allis Tool & Machine's wire EDM services are used in the manufacturing of components, such as progressive dies, mold details, and other metal stamping dies which require accurate machining. The accuracy of wire EDM machines and the resulting cost effective small volume production runs have attracted many industries to our wire EDM services, gradually replacing our broaching operations.
Become a Partner with Wisconsin’s Premier Machine Shop
We are staffed with certified journeymen toolmakers and machinists who have the experience and skill needed to program and produce your components accurately. Our inspection team ensures the quality of our EDM services with the help of a coordinate measuring machine (CMM). CMM inspections are performed by full-time inspectors as part of the first part inspection process. Our wire EDM services are used for die modifications and repairs as well.
We offer a breadth of value-added services you won’t find from any other CNC machining shop in southeastern Wisconsin. Allis Tool & Machine is a true one-stop shop—we’re the full service job shop you’ve been seeking.
